Foreman Art Scholarship
Foreman Art Scholarship Information
The Foreman Art Scholarship is awarded to Art and Art History applicants who are recommended by the Art Faculty and have demonstrated financial need. The scholarships are intended to award superior art students with demonstrated need by the FAFSA in the hopes to make the Hartwick Art program a possibility for them. The scholarship ranges from $500 to $5000 per year. All Art and Art History applicants to Hartwick are automatically considered for the Foreman Art Scholarship if they have completed the art portfolio review and have submitted an admissions application before the application deadline.
If you applied:
Early Decision 1, your portfolio review deadline is November 1st.
Early Decision 2, your portfolio review deadline is January 1st.
Regular Decision, your portfolio review is February 15th.
Art and Art History applicants are notified of the Foreman Art Scholarship with their admissions decision and Financial aid award.
Application Requirements for the Scholarship
Submit an application to the college as a full-time student. Applicant must be admitted to the college and have declared a major in Art or Art History for the award year in order to receive the award.
- Studio Art applicants will submit to the Art Department, c/o Terry Slade, a portfolio of 20 images representative of the applicant's art work. The portfolio must be submitted on a CD with the images in JPEG format.
- Art History applicants will submit to the Art History department, c/o Dr. Doug Zullo, an essay or paper written in high school which demonstrates a grasp of an introductory level of art history knowledge and provides an example of research and writing skills.
To be considered for The Foreman Art Scholarship, all materials (1 and 2 above) must be submitted to the Admissions Office by February 1. Students will be notified of their status by April 1. Mark the envelope clearly with "Foreman Scholarship Application."
Scholarship Renewal Requirements
The Foreman Art Scholarship is renewable annually based on the following:
- Students must continue to declare a major in the Department of Art and Art History and register for the normal sequence of courses taken by majors in the department.
- Foreman Art Scholarship recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA in all courses taken in the Department of Art and Art History.
