Natural Buildings

Beginning in 2000, Hartwick students in Architecture of the Sacred, a course co-taught by Professor of Religious Studies Sandy Huntington and local natural builder Clark Sanders, designed and built the Strawbale House at Hartwick's Pine Lake Environmental Campus. In 2010, a second natural building, the Cob House, was completed.

The history of natural building at Pine Lake stretches back to 1976, when Hartwick students constructed a log cabin on a wooded hilltop overlooking the Back Field.
