Membership Benefits
Hartwick College's Pine Lake Campus is a 920-acre living laboratory, recreation area and living alternative of ecologically diverse lands and varied terrain. Plant, animal, insect and bird species abound along with a variety of aquatic life in the lake, streams and marshes - and especially at Mud Lake, a high-altitude bog. Cabins are rented to alumni and friends of the Lake during the summer. Retreat and meeting spaces are available in the Vaudevillian, Lakeside Classroom, Picnic Pavilion and the Strawbale House. The sauna is open Sunday and Wednesday nights when the college is in session, swimming is available with lifeguards on duty 12 Noon to 7PM from mid-June to Labor Day.

The Pine Lake Mission
As the environmental campus of Hartwick College, Pine Lake is a place to learn from and live with nature; a site where the entire community of learners will study and use the environment in ways that sustain rather than deplete resources; a place where collaborative learning connects the environment to the curricular and co-curricular life of the College, as well as the lives of individual students, faculty, staff and community residents.

Partners in the Community
Your membership as a Friend of Pine Lake allows Hartwick College to continue to build strong relationships with its surrounding communities. Current programs supported by the Friends of Pine Lake include environmental education for local elementary school children, alternative building classes for students and community members, resources for recreational activities, a growing summer program, and summer swim lessons for Charlotte Valley Central School District children.
