Student Housing

For some students, just visiting the Pine Lake Environmental Campus isn’t enough. Each year, up to 37 students make Pine Lake their Hartwick home. Pine Lake offers a unique residential alternative to dorm life. Even though the setting appears remote, residents share a strong sense of community.

Whether you choose a rustic cabin, the 1850 Farmhouse, or your own room in Robertson Lodge, the Pine Lake living experience is unlike any other.

Bailey Cabin: 4 bedrooms. Rustic pine interiors, south facing windows. Two floors, huge wrap-around deck, kitchen, living room, skylights. Deck offers views of Pine Lake.

The Cob House: two sleeping nooks (not full-size bedrooms). This earthen home has ten-foot ceilings, an open living area, and is built of largely local and salvaged materials. The exterior walls are built of cob, an earthen building material which is a mixture of sand, clay, and straw. A one-of-a-kind structure built by Hartwick students and alumni.

Crossroads Cabin: a cozy, smaller cabin with an open, studio-style floor plan. Interior has separate bathroom, open kitchenette/living area/sleeping area. A small roofed porch offers one of the best views of Pine Lake.

The Farmhouse: four bedrooms. Built in the 1830s, the Farmhouse has a kitchen, a living room, a roofed porch, and one small bathroom.

Hill and Dale Two Cabin: two small bedrooms, kitchen, open living area, spacious bathroom, deck. Remodeled in 2008.

Outback Cabins: the three Outback cabins (Outback One, Outback Two, and Outback Three) perch side-by-side in a micro-community in the woods. Each cabin has two small bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and a small porch.

Redwood One Cabin: three bedrooms. Knotty pine interior. Screened porch, kitchen, living room, bathroom. Picture window in living room overlooks Pine Lake.

Redwood Two Cabin: two bedrooms. Knotty pine interior. Screened porch, kitchen, living room, bathroom. Picture window in living room overlooks Pine Lake.

The Robertson Lodge: eight upstairs bedrooms. Two private bathrooms for residents upstairs. Large downstairs kitchen is equipped with two standard gas ranges, two refrigerators, and a dishwasher. Downstairs living room. Downstairs gallery and bathrooms are semi-public areas.
