Description: The Department of Chemistry at Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2015, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Analytical Chemistry, with preference given to those with experience leading student-centered research in Analytical Chemistry, and using and maintaining a broad range of scientific instrumentation. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry by the time of the appointment and experience teaching at the undergraduate level, including teaching assistantships. Specific teaching assignments will include analytical chemistry (quantitative analysis), instrumental analysis, general chemistry, and possibly general education courses, including First Year Seminars. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College's distinctive four-week January Term. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, active engagement in scholarly or creative activities, and working closely with students in a small college environment. Academic advising and committee service also are expected with this appointment.
