2011-12 Health and Dental Insurance

Health Insurance
The College will continue to offer employee health insurance through CDPHP and will work in partnership to tailor a Shared Health Program which will focus on health improvement with a long term goal to increase the quality of healthcare and reduce healthcare costs. Hartwick College has formed a Wellness Committee to develop and promote a wellness program. By collaborating with CDPHP, we can better identify health issues, risks and gaps in care. Through worksite health screenings, education and wellness programs we will work toward improving the experience of care and controlling costs. In the coming months, we will seek your engagement in this program.

The College will continue to offer the Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) health insurance options. There will be no adjustments to the plan design and no increase to plan co-pays or deductibles. Furthermore, there will be no increase to the monthly premiums employees currently pay for health insurance through CDPHP during the 2011-12 year. Hartwick College will assume the rate increase. If you wish to remain with the same health insurance plan, there is nothing additional that you need to do. Below you will find rates for the CDPHP plans that will be effective July 1, 2011.

Dental
The College will continue to work with ComTon, Inc. (TPA) to offer self-insured dental coverage. The current plan design will remain unchanged; however, there will be an increase in cost to this voluntary, self-insured plan. The College has been subsidizing a large portion of the rate increases for several years and again, careful review of the dental plan experience proved that both claims utilization and family size significantly increased during the 2010-11 plan year. Actual claims once again exceeded premiums paid by participants, leaving the College to absorb the difference. New premiums will go into effect July 1, 2011.

Open Enrollment
Over the next few weeks, employees will have the opportunity to change their current coverage. A period of "Open Enrollment" will begin Monday, May 23, 2011 and continue through June 9, 2011.
