Hiring Guidelines for Staff Positions

The search for exempt or non-exempt positions begins with the authorization from the President/Vice President, submission of a JAQ and job description to the Office of Human Resources, including position title, responsibilities, line of accountability, range of salary, and a job posting to be used for web and /or print media purposes.
If the position will go to print media, please contact the Purchasing Office at x4104 for quotes. The Office of Human Resources posts positions on the Human Resources website and will generally post most staff positions on HigherEdJobs.com for a period of 30 days. Positions will also be posted on the NYS Department of Labor Job Bank. There is no cost to the department hiring the position to post on HigherEdJobs.com (Office of Human Resources covers the cost) or the NYSDOL Job Bank.
The department responsible for filling the position will determine the composition of a search committee, should one be necessary. Positions deemed "key" positions will be vetted by the President, responsible Vice President, and Director of Human Resources for appropriate search committee composition. At that time a potential list of people or groups that the finalists should meet with will be determined.
