Title: Part-time Collections Manager, The Yager Museum of Art & Culture
Description: Under the supervision of Museum Coordinator, the Museum Collections Manager is responsible for overseeing the care and preservation of the museum collections, including storage, registration, conversion of paper records into the collections management database, digital imaging, loans, object research and collections security and access. The collections manager is the point person for legal inquiries about the museum's compliance with NAGPRA and managing the legal and logistical paperwork for over 17,000 objects and works of art. The candidate will also work with student interns on projects related to the museum collections and teach a collections management practica for the museum studies minor. S/he supports college courses in providing supervised access to the collection. This collections manager also provides help in exhibition installation, moving art and objects within the museum and around campus, and developing mounts for display. This is a 10-month, 16-hours per week position.
Minimum requirements for this position are a Master's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Art History, Historic Preservation or Museum Studies from an accredited college or university. Candidate must have at least 3 years of experience in collections management, with further experience in a museum setting. The successful candidate should have strong communications skills and attention to detail.
