Institutional Research Annual Calendar

Compliance reporting:
Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) the College reports to the US Department of Education on enrollment, human resources, financial aid, finance, graduation and completion rates, institutional characteristics.

Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA): report to the US Department of Education the College’s support of athletic opportunities for its men and women students. This report is required of any institution of higher education that participates in a federal student aid program and provides athletic competition and must prepare a public EADA report by October 15.

NYS Education Department:
Report on: estimating and certifying earned degrees, off-campus instruction locations, student financial aid, college financial statements, basic student charges, preliminary and final fall semester enrollment, institutional activity, certifying Nursing enrollment, admissions and academic preparation for first-time students, transfer student enrollment, personnel development in special education, graduation report, enrollment of students with disabilities.

Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE): we report to our regional accreditor annually with an institutional profile, every five years for our periodic review, and every ten years for our self-study for reaccreditation. Hartwick was reaccredited in 2009 and the next Periodic Review will be in 2014.

National Association of Schools of Music and National Association of Schools of Art and Design: The departments of Music and Art and Art History are accredited by these organizations and we submit data for annual peer review.

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA): The NCAA requires that institutions submit revenue and expense information for their athletic department, graduation rates,  and other general information annually.

Consortium Reporting:
Higher Education Data Systems (HEDS): a consortium of private higher education institutions with an emphasis on liberal arts education. We report annually on enrollment, faculty compensation, endowment value, voluntary support to the college, financial aid awards, admissions data, graduation and retention, student faculty ratio.

“College Search” Surveys:
Hartwick responds to request for data from publications providing information on institutions to high school students and their parents who are engaged in the search for a college. These publications include: Barrons, Fiske, Peterson’s, US News, College Board, and Open Doors. In support of these activities, the College completes the Common Data Set which is a compilation of data most often requested by these publications.

Student Surveys:
CIRP / BCSSE: The College administers the Cooperative Institutional Research Program’s Freshmen Survey to all first-year students at the start of the fall semester. In the years we give the NSSE, the College administers the Beginning College Survey of Student Engagement to the new freshmen instead of the CIRP.

NSSE: The College administers the National Survey on Student Engagement to selected first-year and senior students every three years. The most recent survey term was Spring 2013.

Student Satisfaction Survey: The College's annual survey to all students on their satisfaction with administrative services.

Senior Survey: The College asks all graduating seniors for their academic or career plans after graduation.
