Required Anti-Virus Software
In order to keep Hartwick’s network free from malware and running smoothly, it is Hartwick College's policy that every student-owned computer which accesses the College's network, regardless of operating system, must be running up-to-date anti-virus software with real-time protection. Students who purchased Hartwick-recommended laptops (2009-2012) received Symantec Endpoint Protection on those machines. Students bringing other laptops must install their own.
Although Hartwick College does not endorse any particular products, here are examples of common anti-virus programs:
| Windows | Macintosh |
| Avast (free) | Avast (free) |
| Microsoft Security Essentials (free) | ClamXAV |
| AVG (free) | Intego |
| Norton/Symantec | Symantec for Mac |
| McAfee | McAfee for Mac |
| Kaspersky | Kaspersky |
| Trend Micro | Sophos |
| BitDefender | BitDefender |
