Graduating Senior Technology Checklist
Below you will find a list that covers technology "housekeeping" items to think about before you leave Hartwick. But first:
You will soon be alumni. There is a Web site dedicated to supporting the Hartwick alumni community which you can use to keep in touch with classmates, network with other graduates for job opportunities, etc.
What Happens after Graduation:
- Your E-mail Account
Your Hartwick e-mail account will remain enabled for one year after your graduation, at which time the account will be closed. If you wish to keep a Hartwick e-mail account permanently, you may request an alumni account by emailing AccountManager@hartwick.edu. There is no charge to have an alumni account.
If you do request an alumni e-mail account, your current e-mail address will be changed one year following your graduation to the format email@example.com. You will be notified of the new address before it is changed. Your existing messages will still be there, and your password will be unchanged. Your old e-mail address will be retained as an alias to your alumni account, so that messages to that address will be received at your alumni address.
Whether you request an alumni account or allow your Hartwick e-mail account to close, it is your responsibility to notify any individuals of your new e-mail address and to edit any accounts such as Facebook, Netflix, Xbox, listservs, etc. that may be using your original Hartwick e-mail address.
- WebAdvisor Access
WebAdvisor access will end approximately one week after graduation. After that time, you may order transcripts through http://www.getmytranscript.com, using a credit card.
- Network Storage (M: Drive) and Web pages
Network storage (your M: drive) and Web pages will be deleted one year after your graduation.
- Desire2Learn (D2L) Access
D2L courses you were enrolled in will become unavailable after the last day of classes, unless an individual faculty member extends a course end date.
- WICKit Card
Any funds left on your WICKit card will be credited to your student account once the office is notified of your graduate status. Any credit balance on your student account will be refunded in June or July. For seniors, WICKit card access to doors will be removed after graduation.
- Listservs and Mailing Lists
If you do not plan to keep your Hartwick e-mail account, please be sure to unsubscribe from any non-Hartwick mailing lists or listservs that you belong to.
- Warranty and Repairs on Hartwick-recommended laptops
The manufacturer's warranty for any Lenovo T520 or HP 6460b laptops purchased through the Hartwick recommended laptop program during summer 2011 will expire this summer. The exact date will depend on your date of purchase. You can call Lenovo at 1-800-426-3391 or HP at 1-800-474-6836 for warranty work. After your warranty expires, if you have any problems or need repairs, you can still call the Technology Resource Center (607-431-4357 or send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org). If parts for your machine are available, we will try to assist you. There will be a service charge, and you will be responsible for any shipping costs, but the charge will generally be less than having the work done by commercial vendors.
- Your Voice Mail Account
If you maintain a Hartwick College voice mail account, it will be deleted on June 1 of your graduation year. If you need an extension beyond this date, please e-mail email@example.com indicating the need for this extension.
