What does Hartwick recommend?

We strongly recommend that students bring a laptop computer to use in class and on the Hartwick network. More specifically, we strongly recommend that you purchase one of the Hartwick-recommended laptops, complete with applications and networking software, from our reseller.

Why buy a Hartwick-recommended laptop?

1. The Hartwick-recommended laptops are business-class machines, which are built with more durability in mind than personal laptops.
2. They include a four-year warranty and accidental damage protection. Most laptops come with a standard one-year warranty, with no coverage for accidental damage. The warranties on Hartwick-recommended laptops will last four years, including accidental damage.
3. They include four years of on-site hardware and software support. The Hartwick College Technology Resource Center (TRC) provides free support for your laptop troubleshooting and repair needs.
4. Loaner computers are available. The TRC maintains a pool of loaner computers which you can borrow for free, to keep you up and running if your laptop is in the shop for repair.
5. They are preconfigured for the Hartwick network. Hartwick's security software (Symantec Endpoint Protection) is already installed, making your connection to our network seamless. You continue to get free updates and protection while you are a Hartwick College student.
6. Windows 7 Professional and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional are pre-installed on the Hartwick-recommended laptops.
7. Hartwick's TRC is an authorized service center for Lenovo and HP laptops. Your repairs are done on-site, saving time.
