Blackboard Learn FAQ
Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions about Blackboard Learn (version 9).
Students
- How do I log in to Blackboard? Go to http://community.hartwick.edu. Log in to Blackboard using your Hartwick network username and password.
- Can I change my password in Blackboard? No. Blackboard uses your Hartwick network username and password. If you wish to change your network password, click here or contact the TRC at x4357.
- Can I change or update my email address in Blackboard? Your Hartwick email address is loaded into Blackboard from Datatel, the College's institutional database. That is the only address used in Blackboard.
- I enrolled in a class, but it does not show in my list of courses. Why? Speak to your professor to see whether you are on the class roster. You can also check WebAdvisor to confirm that you are enrolled in a particular course. If you are not on the roster and the course is not appearing in WebAdvisor, contact the Registrar's Office (x4460) for assistance.
- My professor does not use Blackboard, and I wish they would - what can I do? Talk with your professor, let them know your preference. We hope this will encourage the use of the system by professors and students .
- Whom can I contact if I have additional questions? Ask your instructor, or contact the TRC at x-4357.

- How do I log in to Blackboard? Go to http://community.hartwick.edu. Log in to Blackboard using your Hartwick network username and password.
- Can I change or update my email address in Blackboard? Your Hartwick email address is loaded into Blackboard from Datatel, the College's institutional database. That is the only address used in Blackboard.
- How do I add content to Blackboard 9? Click the icon in the upper right to turn 'edit mode' from off to on. Then you can add or edit content.
- Where is 'Course Documents'? In Blackboard Learn, Course Documents has been replaced with 'Content', an effort to reflect the varied nature of the files and content you post there.
- Where is the digital dropbox? In Blackboard Learn, the digital dropbox has been removed in favor of 'Assignments'. If an instructor creates an electronic assignment in Blackboard, the student can submit their work through the assignment window.
- A course I am teaching does not show in Blackboard. Why? Please notify the Registrar, Matthew Sanford by calling x4462 or send email to sanfordm@hartwick.edu.
- I teach a course that has multiple sections. How can I combine them into one Blackboard course? Contact Bryan Del Bene (delbeneb@hartwick.edu) and ask for a combined course. You will need to provide the course name and number. Do not add any content to the individual sections.
