TRC Services for Students

The Technology Resource Center is your first stop for technology questions and troubleshooting. The TRC will provide free troubleshooting for students' access and use of Hartwick College-supported applications (e.g, D2L, WebAdvisor, Microsoft Office, and SPSS).

Repair Services for students who purchased Hartwick-recommended computers through our recommended-vendor program (2009-2012)

Students who purchased Hartwick-recommended computers through our recommended-vendor program (2009-2012) remain eligible for four years of warranty and insurance-covered hardware service and software support at no charge. Students who purchased Hartwick-recommended computers through our recommended-vendor program are also eligible for a loaner computer if their laptop is at the TRC for repair.

Repair Services for students bringing other computers of their choice to campus

The TRC will provide free problem assessment to assist a student in determining what the nature of the problem is and whether it requires technician time to repair. Beyond that assessment, the following guidelines apply:

Hardware Repair Services

  • For HP and Lenovo computers, we provide warranty repair services on a case-by-case basis, as time allows, at no cost.
  • For HP and Lenovo computers, we provide non-warranty repair services on a case-by-case basis, as time allows, for a fee ($25.00 per 15-minute increment plus parts, shipping, and tax).
  • For Apple computers, we cannot provide any hardware repair services.
  • For other manufacturers, we cannot provide warranty services, but we offer non-warranty service on a case-by-case basis, as time allows, for a fee ($25.00 per 15-minute increment plus parts, shipping, and tax).

Software Repair Services

  • We provide software repair services (e.g. virus cleanup) on a case-by-case basis, as time allows, for a fee ($25.00 per 15-minute increment plus tax).
  • We cannot provide software repair services for Apple computers.
  • All other repair services should be sought from outside vendors.

Rental of notebook computers

Students who are not eligible for a loaner computer may rent a computer, as available, from the TRC.

Notebook Computer Rental Rates

  • Daily - $28
  • Weekly - $45
  • Monthly - $110
  • Semester - $285

Note:
Note: Minimum rental period is one day. The notebook computer comes complete with carrying case, Microsoft Office software, power adapter and Ethernet cable.
