Advising
Hartwick offers an enterprising academic and pre-professional advising program known simply as "Engaged Advising." Engaged Advising involves students, faculty, and staff in a dynamic and ongoing process of collaboration, exploration, and growth in which all benefit. Students and advisors alike are supported in their efforts to make informed decisions about educational planning, extra-curricular development, and future choices. Selecting a Major
If you are undecided about your major, you are not alone! In fact, almost 40 percent of first-year students who enter Hartwick are still exploring which major is best for them. That's why we have events and programming throughout the year to help students get to know themselves, gain experience, and explore their many options. More about choosing a major...

Many social and co-curricular activities are sponsored by the student International Club. More about international student programs and support…

Internships and Career Services
Hartwick offers two types of internships: ones that earn academic credit and involve the supervision of a faculty member, and ones that offer experience and skill-building as part of a summer job or volunteer position. In both cases, the place to go is the Office of Career Services, where staff offer a range of services. Also check out the Emerson Scholarship, and a cool program called MetroLink. Registrar's Office
The Registrar's Office administers many of the academic standards and regulations of the institution, maintains a complete academic record for every student, and provides leadership to the campus in the area of student records management. More about the Office of the Registrar...

Research Assistance

Have no fear: We have great librarians who offer a special service called "research assistance." More about research assistance…

SOAR- Start Out Academics Right
SOAR is a unique five-week summer program designed to develop a student's academic promise. Sometimes grades or test scores don't accurately reflect a student's potential. Hartwick is committed to giving such students the opportunity to attend the College and excel through the SOAR Program. SOAR students take two credit-bearing courses, participate in academic workshops to improve basic skills, and take part in a variety of out-of-class trips and events. Students who are successful in the SOAR Program are admitted to the College. More about SOAR...

Learning Support
Hartwick College is committed to providing equal access to qualified students with disabilities. Although the College does not have a specialized program or a learning center for students with disabilities, the Coordinator of Learning Support will coordinate individualized academic accommodations and support services for any Hartwick student who qualifies. Tutoring & Other Great Help
You can get individualized instruction in critical study skills, plus peer and small-group tutoring, through the Loft. Need more help? You can get supplemental instruction in several of the "tougher" classes, and many departments have academic peer mentors. All tutoring is free; so are the study labs offered in many residence halls. Another great help: workshops on subjects like “Deciding on a Research Topic. ” More on academic support…

Writing Help
For help with essays and reports, research writing, senior theses, resumes, graduate school applications, and other projects as well—we've got the Writing Center. The tutorial staff of upperclass students (who gain editing and teaching experience) helps you learn to critique and revise each piece of writing to better express its ideas. The tutors think of The Writing Center as a home away from home, which accounts for its comfortable, inviting atmosphere. They will help you to solve the problems you're encountering at all stages of writing, from punctuation to organization, from the assignment to the finished bibliography.
