January Term Off-Campus Programs

Hartwick's January Term offers wonderful opportunities for students to travel, study, and live off campus. Hartwick students may select from a variety of destinations for their month-long off-campus experience. Programs will be in Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean, as well as North, Central, and South America.

Financial Assistance: A J Term off-campus program is one of the most highly anticipated experiences of a Hartwick student. Alumni and friends of the College recognize the transformative power of J Term and have established scholarships to assist deserving students who wish to participate in the study abroad program when financial barriers might otherwise prevent them from doing so.

The Florence and George Hutman Scholarship for International Study - Established in 2009 by Dr. Norma Louise Hutman in honor of her parents, Florence and George Hutman, the scholarship is awarded to students with demonstrated financial need, in good academic standing (overall GPA of 3.0 or higher) wishing to participate in an international study program sponsored by Hartwick College or of his/her own design with faculty advisement through Hartwick's Independent Study Program.

The Dobert Family Scholarship - Established in 2009 by Kenneth Dobert '61 and Maureen Riley Dobert '63, the scholarship shall be awarded to students wishing to participate in a Hartwick College J Term program. Students must demonstrate good academic standing with financial need being preferred but not required. Students may also apply for the Andrew & Betty Anderson J-Term Scholarship.

You may apply for these study abroad scholarships or find additional information regarding financial aid available for study abroad by visiting the General Information and Policies page for J Term.
