China: Doing Business in Asia
Students will travel to China to study business and economics. Meetings, seminars, and tours will focus on manufacturing, retailing, and service industries for multi-national corporations, U.S. companies, Chinese-owned enterprises, and joint ventures. Students will explore contemporary political and economic facets of the business environment, as well as the social and ethical aspects of economic development. The trip will feature a residency at one of China's premier institutions, Ocean University, where students will join some of Ocean's 20,000-plus students to take classes with their professors and interact with them socially at the ocean-side resort city of Qingdao. The trip will begin with a tour of the financial center of China--Shanghai. The trip will end with several days in China's political and cultural center, its capital Beijing. In addition to the many business-related sites we will see, we also will visit important cultural sites including the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. This will be a unique and exceptional opportunity to experience this fascinating country in a fun, meaningful way.
