New York City, USA: Theatre in New York City

This First Year Seminar is an introduction to the theatre-going experience, supplemented with a week-long "field trip" to the most influential theatre city in the world. The objective of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of those elements of theatre production that will most enhance their experiences as audience members. They include the basics of story, characters, and spectacle, as well as the roles of writers, producers, directors, designers, actors, and critics.

Students will attend a wide variety of plays (eight in all), touring important theatre places and meeting with theatre professionals.
