How to read a degree audit
Please use the information below to better your understanding of degree audit. The sections of degree audit listed below apply to the Liberal Arts in Practice (LAiP) curriculum.
Your degree audit is divided into multiple sections designed to provide you with a guide to your educational program at Hartwick College. The first section provides general information about you and your current academic program.

(1) Your name and your student ID number
(2) Your current academic program
(3) The catalog year for your current program. This will match your major requirements listed in the Hartwick College catalog.
(4) Your anticipated completion/graduation date (month and year).
(5) Your current Hartwick email address.

(6) A listing of your current advisor(s)
(7) Your current writing level.
(8) Your current campus box number.
(9) Your current program status - this will be 'In Progress' until you complete your program.

(10) Listed here are institutional credit and GPA minimums that you are required to achieve as a Hartwick student. Institutional credits and GPA are the academic courses you have completed at Hartwick and your Hartwick GPA. Combined credits and GPA fields count all the credits you have completed that apply towards your degree.
(11) Institutional requirements for completed credits and GPA. You are required to complete at least 60 academic credits and achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.00 (and a cumulative GPA in your major).
(12) Current earned credits are those that you have completed. Institutional credits are those academic credits that you have completed at Hartwick (this does not count PHED credit, only academic). Combined credit is any credit you have completed that is counting towards your degree (including transfer and PHED credit).
(13) These Remaining fields show how many credits you need to satisfy institutional credit and GPA requirements based on completed coursework.
(14) Anticipated additional lists courses you are currently pre-registered for or those that you are in the process of completing.
(15) These Remaining fields show how many credits you need to satisfy institutional credit and GPA requirements based on in-progress or pre-registered coursework.
The next section of degree audit reflects your progress towards fulfilling Liberal Arts in Practice Curriculum requirements. More information about the Liberal Arts in Practice Curriculum can be found by clicking here. Requirements will show a blank line until they are fulfilled.

(16) Writing level requirement. A level 4 is required for graduation. More information on the writing program can be found by clicking here.
(17) Connections.
(18) First Year Seminar.

(19 & 20) Your Humanities breadth and depth requirement. You are required to complete 9 credits of Humanities courses with at least 3 credits designated as ILS or EL. Foreign language courses designated as LN1, 2 or 3 and ENGL 110 do not satisfy this requirement.

(21 & 22) Your Social and Behavioral Sciences breadth and depth requirement. You are required to complete 9 credits of Social and Behavioral Sciences courses with at least 3 credits designated as ILS or EL.
(23) The 9 credits must be from two different Social and Behavioral Sciences departments.

Your foreign language requirement. The requirement is satisfied in one of four ways:
(24) Complete an elementary language sequence (minimum 6 credits), or
(25) Complete one intermediate language course (minimum 3 credits), or
(26) Complete one introductory language course (minimum 3 credits) and the corresponding off-campus program (OCL) (minimum 3 credits), or
(27) Complete one introductory language course (minimum 3 credits) and the corresponding on-campus culture course (LNC) (minimum 3 credits).

(28) Your Physical & Life Sciences breadth and depth requirement. You are required to complete 9 credits of Physical and Life Sciences courses including one course from the department of Chemistry or Physics, one course from the department of Biology or Geology.
(29) One of the courses from Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Geology must have a LAB component.

(30) Your Quantitative and Formal Reasoning (QFR) requirement.

(31) Your Physical Education requirement. You must complete 2 PHED courses. One of these courses can be satisfied by participating in a team sport or by completing a designated Theatre Arts course.
The next section of degree audit lists your declared major requirements. If you are Undeclared, this section will not appear on your degree audit. For purposes of this example, the student below is a Psychology major.

(32) All major requirements are associated with your catalog year. To understand more about satisfying your major requirements, you should review a college catalog for your catalog year or speak with your faculty advisor.

(33) Listed here you will find all of your academic credits. Any transfer courses you have completed will appear here. The calculation at the bottom should be used to determine how many academic credits you have remaining for degree completion. Physical Education credits are not counted in this equation.

(34) Listed here you will find non-academic courses that count towards your Hartwick degree (only 12 MUPF courses can count towards your overall 120 academic credits required for graduation).
(35) Courses that do not count towards your degree will be listed here - you can also find your current math level in this section.
