How do I find important dates and deadlines?

How do I declare/change a major/minor?
To declare or change a major, please use the MAJOR AND/OR ADVISOR CHANGE form, available online and in the Office of Advising and Registration, 4th Floor, Dewar Hall. If your current advisor does not teach in your new major, you need to change your advisor as well. Once your new advisor has signed the form, please bring it back to the Office of Advising and Registration for processing.

To declare a minor, please use the APPLICATION TO REGISTRAR FOR TRANSCRIPT LISTING OF A MINOR form. The form needs to be signed by the Department Chair and returned to the Office of Advising and Registration in order for a minor to show on your transcript.

How do I change my advisor?

If you want to change your advisor, but don't know who you would like, you need to meet with someone in the Office of Advising and Registration so an advisor can be assigned.

How do I change my schedule?
To make changes to your schedule, please use a REGISTRATION CHANGE FORM. This form is available online and in the Office of Advising and Registration. Once you have obtained your advisor's signature, bring the form back for processing.

Beginning the third day of the term (except for January-term), you must also obtain the instructor's signature in order to add a course. After two weeks into the semester, you need to file a petition (including signatures of the course professor and your advisor) with the Committee on Academic Standards in order to add a course. IF the Committee approves the petition, there is a $50.00 late registration fee applied for each course.

How do I do an independent/directed study?
Please download a PRE-REGISTRATION FOR INDEPENDENT/DIRECTED STUDY form. Once you have completed this form and obtained the appropriate signatures (Advisor, Professor, and Department chair), return it to the Office of Advising and Registration by the end of the first week of the term in which you are registering. If not turned in by the end of the first week of the term, you will have to petition the Committee on Academic Standards or the study will have to be postponed until a later term.

How do I take summer courses at another institution?
Please download the REQUEST FOR COURSE APPROVAL form, fill it out and return it to the Office of Advising and Registration, 4th floor, Dewar Hall. The form must be filled out in its entirety or it will not be accepted. If you are seeking approval for a course to transfer in to your major, you must obtain approval from the Chair of your major department (see the form for details). Summer courses at another institution MUST be pre-approved. If you do not obtain approval prior to completing a course at another institution you will need to petition the Committee on Academic Standards to allow the course to transfer.

Students within their last 30 credits (i.e. students who have completed 90 credits) will need to petition for a waiver of the residency requirement. Students in their Junior or Senior years who wish to transfer in more than 8 credits from a community college must petition the Committee on Academic Standards for approval.
