e-Reg: Contacting Your Advisor
Aside from planning courses and pre-registering for sections, the single most important part of the e-Reg process is working with your advisor. Your advisor approves your courses, but you are responsible for working with him or her to ensure your courses are approved. Without your advisor's approval, you will not be able to pre-register for sections.
How do I contact my advisor using e-Reg?
After you have added courses to your plan that require approval, take the following steps:
- From your worksheet, click the link in the upper right (just under ‘Help’) for ‘Planning Home’
- From the Planning Courses menu, select the link for ‘E-Mail My Advisor'

- In the message, select which advisor to send the message to (if you have more than one advisor)
- Enter a subject for the message, such as Advising Worksheet
- In the e-mail text, let your advisor(s) know that your worksheet is ready for review and ask to schedule a meeting

- Click submit
- You will receive a confirmation that the message was sent

When should I contact my advisor using e-Reg?
You should contact your advisor when you have added courses to your planning worksheet that require his or her approval.
Why should I contact my advisor?
Any course added to your planning worksheet requires your advisor's approval before you can pre-register. Therefore, you need to contact your advisor after you have added courses to your plan so that he or she is aware of your selections. If your advisor doesn't know you have added courses to your plan, he or she cannot issue approval.
After you have met with your advisor and your courses have been approved, you can now pre-regsiter during your scheduled pre-regsitration time.
