Students: How to Apply to the Binghamton Link Job Shadow
Job shadowing is one of the best ways to explore a career from the inside out!
You are invited to participate in a program that will allow you to explore career options within your major by
- Shadowing a professional in an area of interest to you
- Observing, interacting, and asking questions that will assist you in learning more about a potential career field
- Attending a networking reception with Hartwick alumni and other professionals
To participate in the 2010 Binghamton Link program, download and complete the Application below. Please return the completed form to the Office of Career Services, First floor, Golisano Hall by November 18, 2009.
The Office of Career Services, in conjunction with the Binghamton Alumni Network, is offering this program for the tenth consecutive year. On January 21, students will be transported to Binghamton for a half-day job shadow of a professional in a career field of their choice. Here's what some of the students who participated in the past had to say:
"The Job Shadow program was very useful to me, as I try to make decisions regarding my future career. I got to spend a day with very intelligent and enthusiastic Hartwick graduates who had so much to show me about their jobs. It was an enjoyable way to begin gathering professional contacts and experience." Mike Angstadt '08
"I loved meeting the people at my host company…. The people at Davidson Fox & Company gave me a clear view on what it takes to be an accountant." Randy Browne '08
Past shadow sites include a corporate law firm, public defender's office, TV station, newspaper, fitness center, city government offices, public schools, an advertising agency, human service agencies, an insurance firm, two hospitals, an engineering firm, a CPA firm, a physical therapy practice, a university science research department, and more!
