Art Major Declaration and Recommended Portfolio Requirements

Art Major Declaration

To declare an art major you are required to complete a successful portfolio review.  Plan to have your portfolio reviewed by a faculty member or if you don't have a portfolio available, you may alternatively achieve a grade of 'C' or better in Art 115 2-Dimensional Design.

Click on this link to download the necessary Art Major Declaration forms.  You must have Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click here to download a free copy.

Application Process
Please remember that in addition to the art portfolio and application, a student must submit all materials required for regular applicant ― whether a futurefirst-year student, a transfer student or an international student.

Recommended Art Portfolio Requirements

Beginning in 2006 the requirements for the Foreman Art Scholarship Portfolio are the same as the Portfolio Requirements. For a portfolio review arrange to meet on-campus with a faculty member or send a CD of your portfolio to declare the art major.

Portfolio Guidelines for On-site Review

  • Your portfolio should include 10 - 20 pieces of recent, original work. Your portfolio should reflect your artistic strengths and interests. Edit your portfolio and present the works chronologically.
  • The Portfolio should contain representations of your observational drawing skills. These drawings can be based on the figure, landscape, and/or still life.
  • If you work in any 3d areas these works should be represented by photograph, neatly mounted on mat board or in an appropriate portfolio binder.
