Ann M. Deisler



Ann M. Deisler, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Education at Hartwick College, is from Palm Harbor Florida. She teaches courses in music education, supervises student teachers, and serves as advisor to the Hartwick College chapter of the National Association for Music Education. Before completing her doctoral studies at Florida State University, she taught instrumental and general music in the Pinellas County school system in the Tampa Bay area. During her time with Pinellas County Schools, Dr. Deisler worked to further the development of guitar and orchestra programs around the county as well as serving as district chairperson for the Florida Orchestra Association and the Pinellas County Music Educators Association.

Dr. Deisler is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the College Music Society. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of South Florida and completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education at Florida State University. Dr. Deisler’s research interests include teacher preparation, general music, best practices, equality in education, and sociology of music education.
