Western Vermont 2006 Trip
Tectonic Seminar and Structural Geology students united in April 2006 for a long weekend trip to western Vermont. Everyone enjoyed camping at the Kamperville Campground (below) despite the chilly mornings.
The trip included several stops that united the sedimentary, metamorphic, and deformational features of the Taconic Orogeny, such as the spectacular Scotch Hill Synform (below).
Ever touch a major thrust fault surface? Margaret gets up close and personal with the outcrop of the Champlain Thrust at Lone Rock Point, near Burlington.
After a long day in the field, there's nothing like a good campfire, especially when it includes the campfire cooking of Steve and Bobby..."raw meat theatre!"
