Cell Phones Beware!

An Unusual Tradition

Ever feel like taking yor frustration out on consumer technology? Near the end of every school year students and faculty in the Geological and Environmetal Sciences Department gather for a chance to release end of semester tension and celebrate Spring in a most unusual tradition: the "Smashing of the Cell Phones." Based on Dr. Johnson's distain for those ringing, beebing, hand-held wonders, he and students have been dipping old cell phones in liquid nitrogen and hurling rocks against them - with spectalular results. Naturally, we remove the dangerous and environmentally unfriendly battery packs.
