CPA Major

CPA: Certified Public Accountant.
You are a licensed professional with opportunities to work for an international firm, a smaller regional firm, or operate your own account. You can chose your specialty: auditing, taxation, personal financial planning, or consulting. Enjoy membership in the AICPA: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The choice is yours.

CIA: Certified Internal Auditor
You are an inside specialist following in the path of TIME magazine's 2003 women of the year...watchdogs over the performance of their employers.

CFE: Certified Fraud Examiner
You are trained to detect and deter fraud. Law enforcement or a combination CPA/J.D. (law degree) may be in your future.

Our CPA major offers many of the courses required to sit for the CPA exam. Its focus is on financial accounting and external reporting in accordance with the U.S. Accounting Standard: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Our required courses integrate with our Liberal Arts in Practice curriculum to form a basis for ethical and informed reporting. Your laptop computer becomes your 21st century pencil as you work with accounting software for tax preparation, transaction recording, and spreadsheet construction.

Interested in finance too? Not to worry... the finance minor is only 6 courses away.

Want to double major? Many of our graduates, with prior planning, successfully complete "doubles":

  • CPA/Economics
  • CPA/Business Administration
  • CPA/Computer Information Systems.
