CPA Major Requirements

Requirements for a CPA major include 150 total credits; minimum of 33 credits in Accounting, 30 credits in Business.


Courses in Accounting
(ACCO): 

  • 101 Financial Accounting (4 credits)
  • 247 Managerial Accounting I (4 credits)
  • 321 Intermediate Accounting I (4 credits)
  • 322 Intermediate Accounting II (4 credits)
  • 342 Taxation I (4 credits)
  • 421 Auditing (4 credits)
  • 491 Contemporary Issues in Accounting (4 credits)
  • Electives: minimum of 5 credits; maximum of 12 credits required 

Courses in Business Administration (BUSA): (6 credits)

  • 310 Business Law I (3 credits)
  • 311 Business Law II (3 credits)

Courses in Economics (ECON): (6 credits of choice)

Courses in Finance (FINA): (6 credits of choice)

18 Elective Hours:
The electives may be chosen from accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or computer science courses.
