Background Information on the GRE Exam
All students who wish to pursue graduate school in economics must take the GRE test. (Students intending to pursue an MBA should take the GMAT exam. Students applying to law school should take the LSAT exam.)
The GRE exam is very similar to the SAT exam taken in high school. The quantitative exam score carries significant weight in the application process. You may have to take the exam multiple times to obtain a score acceptable to the top graduate programs. According the the GRE website, it takes approximately 3 months to obtain your scores from these tests. You should plan accordingly and consider graduate program application deadlines when preparing to take the GRE. Visit the following link "GRE Details" for more information.
