Understanding how conflict starts and having the knowledge of how to bring a peaceful resolution is a valuable asset in a variety of fields. From creating public policy and educating others to working for the Department of Defense or other government agency, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to put your coursework into practice.

Hartwick’s PCPrep program allows you to develop the language and leadership skills, intercultural competence and real-world experiences that make you a top-choice applicant for volunteering with Peace Corps, or for positions with international development organizations.

EXTRAORDINARY OPPORTUNITIES

J Term and Study Abroad experiences abroad will allow you to immerse yourself in new cultures. Join Model United Nations to test-drive your ability to manage conflict, or International Club to engage with students from other countries.

Your Alumni Mentor will share their experiences in the workplace, and your Success Coach will be there beside you the whole time to support your journey at Hartwick.

AN EDUCATION BUILT FOR YOU

As an interdisciplinary minor, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with students and faculty from a variety of programs. Courses in pacifism and non-violent protest will show you people engage in the practice of peace, while courses that explore domestic violence, war and discrimination give you a stronger understanding of how conflict can be waged at home and abroad, politically or culturally.

Your Faculty Advisor will guide you towards courses that hone your specific interest, and your Career Coach will help you find an internship where you can put your skills to work.

In your senior year, you’ll delve deeper into a topic of your choosing and present your findings at our annual Student Showcase. It all goes on your digital resume, detailing your readiness to future employers.
