2011-2012 Exhibits

"A Loyalist Logo: A Remnant of the Revolutionary War," curated by Rejoice Scherry '12, history major and museum studies minor. The exhibit's centerpiece was a brass cartridge box badge. The logo was a metal symbol with the Letters GR standing for Georges Rex Latin for King George. The exhibit connected the logo to a unit of loyalists under the command of John Butler. John Butler was one of England's main contacts with America Native American allies and kept all but one of the Iroquois Confederacy from joining the Colonial Rebellion. Butler's Rangers fought all around New York State and northeastern Pennsylvania. The exhibit explored the story of the badge and its connection with 18th century history.

"In Living Color" The exhibit explores the different subjects Carl Plansky painted over his lifetime. He developed his own individual form of expressive painting, with subjects that included still lives, landscapes, and most significantly, large figural works of nudes and dramatic "divas." Planksy's personal and emotional education was reflected in his work, resulting in intense explorations he characterized as "hot and passionate."

"The Inventions of Leonardo daVinci" features 16 contemporary models of mechanical devices conceived and designed by Renaissance artist and inventor Leonardo daVinci. The fully operable models in the exhibition have been constructed from daVinci's own drawings, which were recorded in notebooks until his death in 1519. DaVinci created drawings of such precise accuracy that these models could be constructed from his drawings 500 years after they were originally created. Visitors to this interpretive exhibition are encouraged to explore concepts of invention, flight, machines, and scientific observation through working models of daVinci's inventions.

"New York Remembers" In remembrance of the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 the governor's office asked Yager museum, along with 29 other Museums around New York State, to host the exhibit "New York Remembers". The exhibit displayed artifacts from Ground Zero. Select Items from the Hartwick archives where collected in the exhibit "Hartwick Remembers". The exhibit was presented in memory of Tim O'Brien '83 and John Damien Vaccacio ‘93
