Below you will find a listing of courses, by major, that are recommended for registration in the first term. If you are declared in one of these majors, it is recommended you register for the courses listed. Courses marked 'required' must be registered in the first semester. Courses marked 'suggested' are not required but highly encouraged to register for in addition to thoe required for your major. Geology
Required: GEOL 109 The Global Environment or GEOL 107 Physical Geology
Suggested: MATH 120 Pre-Calculus or MATH 121 Single Variable Calculus (based on math level)

German
Required: GERM 214 Intermediate German (requires at least 4 years of high school German)
If you have studied less than 4 years of German, you may register for GERM 101 (1 year or less) or GERM 102 (2 or 3 years) and take GERM 214 in a later term

History
Required: Either a U.S. Perspectives or Global Perspectives course, as these are mandatory for the major (HIST 165 or HIST 241)
Suggested: Any additional 100 or 200 level History elective in an area of interest to the student

Mathematics
Required: MATH 121 Single variable Calculus or MATH 233 Multivariable Calculus (based on math level and possible transfer/AP credit)
Note: Math 108 Statistics and Math 120 Pre-calculus do not count toward a Math major, but may be required for less prepared students (as determined by the math placement exam) as a pre-requisite for single variable calculus.
