Request for Proposals

The Campus Theme Committee is now accepting program proposals for the 2013-2014 academic year. The 2013-2014 theme is Exploration. To learn more, read the theme statement.

When is the application deadline?
The first working day of the month, September - April, is the preferred deadline; however, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Who is eligible?
All members of the Hartwick community - students, faculty, and staff - can apply for funding.

How much can be requested?
The maximum award which may be requested is $1,000. Awards typically range from $100 - $500. We encourage co-sponsorships and other collaborations.

What is the approval process?
Proposals are reviewed by the students, faculty, and staff on the Campus Theme Committee. Decisions are generally made within two weeks of application.

How do I apply?
Download the Campus Theme Funding Request Form, complete, and submit electronically to campustheme@hartwick.edu.

What types of projects can be funded?
Past theme events have included talks, readings, lectures, art displays, film screenings, roundtable discussions, workshops, and more. We expect that many of these events will continue this year. However, given this theme's experiential emphasis, we are also interested in innovative programs that focus on teaching skills or involve community-based or service components.

What are the criteria for project proposals?
The campus theme statement ends with "... the Hartwick College Exploration campus theme will undertake academic, co-currricular, and community-based explorations that consider what we can learn from past explorations, examine the current limits of our knowledge, and prepare for the frontiers of the future." Proposals should explain how the event will fulfill the aspirations expressed in this statement.

Interdisciplinary programs are encouraged, as are (for faculty and staff) proposals based on interests outside your professional field.

Source of Funding
Program funds come from the Campus Theme budget.

Post-Project Reporting
A summary of project and/or use of funds is required. The Campus Theme Committee and the Office of Academic Affairs reserve the right to use summary materials and photos for promotional purposes.

Limitations to Funding
Funding cannot be used to support salaries, stipends, or benefits for any member of the Hartwick community.

Administration
The Campus Theme Committee, consisting of students, faculty, and staff, reviews proposals and makes funding decisions. Administrative support for the Campus Theme is provided by the Office of Academic Affairs.
