Challenges (Pre-Fall 2010 Honors Program Enrollment)
If your first term in the Honors Program was before Fall 2010, you may select from these challenges:
- Traditional: A research or creative project that is done within a course and that goes beyond the usual course requirements. The project is completed under the guidance of the course professor. Approval of the Challenge Proposal by the Honors Program Advisory Committee is required before work on the project begins. Revisions of the Proposal may be required. (No limit on the number taken. An abstract is required when completed.)
- Research or Creative: The investigation of an original question in depth with a faculty member or the completion of a creative project under the supervision of a faculty member. The project is done outside of a course. Approval of the Challenge Proposal by the Honors Program Advisory Committee is required before work on the project begins. Revisions of the Proposal may be required. (May be undertaken during a semester, the summer, or January Term. No limit on the number taken. An abstract is required when completed.)
- Special Academic Achievement: An extraordinary academic achievement without course credit. For example, a conference paper or publication in a scholarly journal or magazine. Approval of the Challenge Proposal by the Honors Program Advisory Committee is required. Revisions of the Proposal may be required. (No limit on the number taken. Abstract required.)
- 300-Level Course: The student negotiates with an instructor to take a 300 level course outside of his or her major or minor requirements. (A limit of two may be taken. No abstract is required.)
- Honors CIS: Contemporary Issues Seminar (More than one may be taken if space is available in the second Honors CIS. No proposal or abstract is required.)

No proposal or abstract is required.)
