Research and Technology Class
Course Description:
Research and Technology is a one credit academic course designed to provide students with the research and information literacy skills needed to succeed in higher education: knowledge of how to effectively and efficiently conduct research; critically evaluate information and research; cite resources in various style formats and understand the nature of academic integrity. In-class activities and assignments will explore various types of general and subject-specific research tools, and also allow the students opportunities to conduct research for projects they are working on for other classes. The activities will highlight the use of the citation management tool RefWorks to enhance knowledge of citing sources in various style formats. There will also be discussions of the role of information in contemporary society.
