A National Leader in Study Abroad

Hartwick is a national leader in study abroad programming, and our unique January Term is one of the main reasons why.

We've been offering domestic and international academic programs during January Term (or J Term) for 30 years. Each one is a faculty-led course, internship, or directed study. U.S. News & World Report ranks us 21st among all colleges and universities nationwide for the percentage of students who study abroad. And every year, we're ranked in the top 10 of Open Doors: Report on International Education Exchange because of the huge percentage of Hartwick students who study abroad, many of them during J Term. An impressive 62% of Hartwick's 2011 graduates studied abroad--almost 2 out of 3.

J Term is also one of the reasons Hartwick graduates are so successful. Study abroad experiences help build powerful resumes -- so it's not surprising that Hartwick is ranked among the top liberal arts colleges in the nation for average starting salary in Payscale.com's 2012 College Salary Report -- or that our graduates are admitted to medical and law schools at rates running twice the national average.

Get the facts.
Cheer on the Hawks or put on a jersey and show your hustle - more than a third of our students do.
