Introduction to Creative Writing
This course will explore topics in poetry and fiction, covering several genres and forms. Students will have the opportunity to write every day, and will meet with Professor DeLanoy several times during the three weeks. The ultimate goal of the course is the creation of a personal portfolio, of which each student will be very proud. Students will learn to cull through all of the writing done in three weeks and choose the very best pieces for the portfolio. Students can then use these portfolios (or, at the very least, their newfound understanding of narrative) to aid in the college admissions process.
Texts will include the anthologies Good Poems, edited by Garrison Keillor, and The Story Behind the Story, edited by Andrea Barrett and Peter Turchi.
This course is taught by Brent DeLanoy, Assistant Professor of English.
