Important HOP Information

The Hartwick Overnight Program (HOP) will be an exciting and informative occasion for parents and their students, who will experience a day in the life of a Hartwick College student, and get to know our campus first-hand. Please review the important information below for details about the event.

  • Bus leaves from NYC at 12:30 p.m. and arrives in Oneonta at 5:35 p.m. We provide transportation to and from Adirondack Trailways for HOP guests. The bus departs Oneonta at 2:35 p.m. and arrives at 7:40 p.m.
  • The bus is an Adirondack Trailways bus, not Greyhound.
  • There will be no reimbursement for tickets purchased in the event of a missed or cancelled visit.
  • HOP check in is from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. on the evening of the visit. An appointment with financial aid for the next day can be scheduled at check in.
  • Students who travel together are not guaranteed to be placed with the same host, although we will try to accommodate, if requested.
  • Students in different majors who travel together will not necessarily be placed in the same classes.
  • Students who drive themselves by vehicle must request a parking pass for their car when they check in.
  • HOP guests are generally matched with a host student by major or another common interest.
  • Both the Consent Form and Arrival/Emergency Form must be completed to reserve the space for HOP.
  • Students are expected to stay on campus unless special permission is granted ahead of time for an academic reason. Students are not to leave campus or get into the vehicle of any other student. Any student choosing to leave at any point during the visit must contact the HOP Coordinator, Geneen Bolton, at 607-431-4324 or boltong@hartwick.edu.
  • All meals during the stay are provided, and students should not need any money, unless they choose to have a little on hand for purchasing items or snacks on campus.
  • HOP guests should bring a sleeping bag and pillow, and other items to make them feel comfortable, but nothing too bulky or heavy.
  • Taking notes in class is not necessary or expected, but welcomed. Participate at your own level of comfort.
  • After the second class, students will return to Bresee Hall to meet their families and then go to lunch in The Commons together at 11:30 a.m. Parents will be given a lunch pass and will be awaiting their students in Bresee.
