Boltus and Phelan Share Empire 8 Weekly Accolades; Add Co-ECAC Northwest Honors

ROCHESTER, NY - Just two days after being named the Empire 8 Conference Players of the Week late Sunday, Hartwick quarterback Jason Boltus (Baldwinsville, NY) and receiver Jack Phelan (Slingerlands, NY) have also been tabbed the ECAC Northwest Co-Offensive Players of the Week. It is the third time this season Phelan has been selected by both the E8 and the ECAC for weekly honors. Boltus has now been the Empire 8 and ECAC NW Offensive Player of the Week in each of the last two weeks amassing 869 yards passing and 11 touchdowns.

Jason BoltusBoltus tied an NCAA season-high with 508 passing yards in Hartwick's 58-27 win at Mount Ida on Saturday. He also threw for six touchdowns and rushed for another. Boltus recorded his 20th career 300-yard passing game and moved into fifth on the all-time NCAA charts in touchdown passes (114) and career yards (12,493), and into sixth in career passing yards (11,665). He is also two touchdown passes from tying the Hartwick all-time record.

Jack PhelanPhelan set this season's NCAA record for reception yards with 311 in Saturday's victory. He also set a career-high with 14 catches and scored four touchdowns. With yardage totals of 311, 289, and 256 this season, Phelan has recorded three of the five highest single-game totals in NCAA Division III football this year. With 41 career touchdown receptions, Phelan is just four more scores from setting the Hartwick College record for career touchdowns by a receiver.

Boltus, Phelan and the Hawks are back home at Wright Stadium this weekend as they host Norwich in one of their three remaining Empire 8 contests. The Hawks are 2-1 in conference play and trail Ithaca, St. John Fisher and Alfred, who are all 3-1, in the standings.
