Three In a Row For Boltus; Senior named E8 and ECAC Northwest Player of the Week for Third Straight Time

  November 3, 2008
Jason Boltus set an NCAA-high for passing yards Saturday against Norwich.

ROCHESTER, NY - For the third consecutive time, Jason Boltus (Baldwinsville, NY) has been named the Empire 8 and ECAC Northwest Offensive Player of the Week.

Boltus set an NCAA season-high with 531 yards passing in a 42-12 Hartwick win over Norwich on Saturday. He completed 29 of 40 passes and threw for five touchdowns, including three to senior wide receiver Jack Phelan (Slingerlands, NY). Boltus keyed touchdown drives of 96, 81, 80, 80, 63, and 60 yards on the day. He set the school's all-time touchdown record on a connection with Phelan in the second quarter, breaking the mark set by Dan Pincelli (1999-02).

In the last three weeks, Boltus has helped the Hawks to three wins of 30 points or more over Becker, Mount Ida and Norwich. Over that three-game span, he has accumulated 1400 passing yards, thrown for 16 touchdowns, and been intercepted just twice in 122 passing attempts.

This is the first time this season Boltus has had the Empire 8 and ECAC honor all to himself. Boltus shared the E8 award on Oct. 19 with the Ithaca offensive line, and with Phelan on Oct. 26. Boltus shared the ECAC honor with RPI's Jimmy Robertson two weeks ago and with Phelan last week.
