Empire 8 Named Blazek Rookie of the Week

ROCHESTER, NY - For the second time this season, Hartwick College freshman guard Mark Blazek (Erie, PA/Erie Prep) has been named the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Blazek averaged 17.5 points and shot 50 percent from three-point range (8-of-16) as Hartwick split two games this weekend. He hit five of seven 3-pointers and tallied 17 points as the Hawks earned their first win over St. John Fisher since 1989 on Friday. Blazek then hit three 3-pointers and scored 18 points in the Hawks' two-point loss to Nazareth on Sunday.

Blazek also received the honor in November after leading the Hawks to a season-opening win over Oneonta State with 22 points.

Hartwick men's basketball (8-10, 2-8 E8) is on the road this coming weekend at Ithaca Friday night and Elmira Saturday afternoon. The Hawk's next home contest is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 10 against Utica.
