Women's Cross Country Takes Top Spot, Men Place 3rd at Hartwick Fast Track 5K

ONEONTA, NY - The 'Wick women's cross country team took first place at the Hartwick College Fast Track 5K Invitational on Saturday finishing ahead of second-place Oneonta State and third-place Delhi. The Hawk men's cross country team took third place in the men's competition.

In the women's race, Hawks took 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th to finish with a team score of 32 points, six better than Oneonta State (38). Sophomore Kim Negrich (Mayfield, NY) and junior Gabby Dello (Mount Upton, NY) were the Hawks' top finishers crossing the line one second apart in 2nd and 3rd. Negrich ended the race in 21:06 and Dello finished in 21:07. Oneonta's Ellen Paccia took first with a time of 20:58.

Hartwick sophomore Kelsey Towle (Concord, NH) finished fifth with a time of 21:42 and freshman Sierra Derby (Mayfield, NY) was seventh in a time of 22:24.

The Hartwick men's team took third behind Delhi and Oneonta in the men's race. Sophomore Justin Pedersen (Gilbertsville, NY) placed eighth with a time of 17:20. Timothy Sattler's (Warwick, NY) time of 17:47 was good enough for 15th.

Both Hawk cross country teams will compete at the Oneonta State Airfield Invitational at Fortin Park next Friday, September 19. The men's race is set to begin at 5:15 p.m. with the women's race to follow at 6 p.m.
