'Wick Cross Country Teams Compete at Hamilton Invitational

CLINTON, NY - The Hartwick College men's and women's cross country teams competed for the first time in nearly a month on Saturday at the Hamilton Invitational at the Hamilton Golf Course in Clinton, NY. The teams last raced in the Oneonta State Invitational on Sept. 19. The Hawk women's team placed eighth out of 11 teams, while the men finished 10th.

The women's team finished with a total of 236 to place ahead of William Smith (259), Hudson Valley CC (304) and SUNYIT (337). Queens University (CA) took top team honors with a score of 25. Ithaca (49) was second and Plattsburgh (99) finished third. Junior Gabby Dello (Mount Upton, NY) finished 39th in the 5K race out of 138 competitors with a time of 19:51.9 for the Hawks' top finish. Kim Negrich (Mayfield, NY) was not far behind placing 48th in 20:15.3. Sierra Derby (Mayfield, NY) was 47th, Lucy Garfield (Hanover, NH) was 56th, and Erika Gates (Vestal, NY) finished 57th.

Queens (41) also won the men's event finishing ahead of Plattsburgh (55), and Hamilton (62). Sophomore Justin Pedersen (Gilbertsville, NY) ended the men's 8K in 62nd place with a time of 29:40.0. Tim Sattler (Warwick, NY) was four spots behind crossing the finish line in 29:55.2.

Hartwick College cross country travels to Williamstown, MA next Saturday to compete in the Williams College Invitational.
