  May 26, 2009

PERRY, NY - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) recently announced that Hartwick goalie John Meade (Ocean Beach, NY) has been picked for its Scholar All-America Team.

Meade, who just competed in the USILA North-South Division III Senior All-Star Game at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, MA on May 22, is one of just 53 Division I, II, and III athletes to be selected for the honor. Only 30 Division III athletes from 151 USILA member institutions received distinction on this season's squad.

Meade led the Hawks this season in ground balls and ranked fourth in the Empire 8 this season in the category. He registered a goals against average of 8.33 which ranked second amongst E8 starting keepers. Meade ended his career at Hartwick with 455 career saves and 163 ground balls.

In 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically, and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III. The Scholar All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
