Three `Wick Players Gain MAC Honors

  November 16, 2007
CLEVELAND, OHIO. - Three members of the Hartwick men's soccer team gained Mid-American Conference recognition as the league office announced its year end awards, Friday.

John Paul Boyle (Renfrew, Scotland) was the Hawks' lone representative on the first team, while Liam Parrington (Woking, England) and Steven Amaya (New York, N.Y.) were second team honorees.

Boyle completed his junior year as one of the top scorers in the league. Heading into this weekend's semifinals, he was ranked second in the conference in points (15) and in goals scored (7). The junior posted his best game of the year in the first meeting against western Michigan. On October 20, Boyle netted two goals and dished out his lone assist on the year in a 3-3 tie with the Broncos. He tallied two game-winning goals on the year against Seton Hall and, most recently, in Hartwick's 2-1 victory over Buffalo on November 3. He notched his first goal in his second game of the season against then #10 New Mexico at the Westfield Cup in Akron.  Boyle was joined on the first team by two Buffalo players and eight players from Akron.

Parrington finished his inaugural season with 1 goal, 1 assist for 3 points. The junior was named the Defensive MVP of the 2007 Mayor's Cup. He posted his first point as a Hawk with an assist against 2006 NCAA qualifier UAB in the season-opener. A few games later, he banged home a header for his first goal at Hartwick in a convincing 3-0 win over Seton Hall in the title game of the Mayor's Cup.

Amaya ended his first collegiate season with 1 goal and 2 assists for four points. The freshman posted his first goal at Hartwick, Tuesday evening in the 1-1 draw against Western Michigan in the MAC quarterfinals. The hawks went on to win 4-2 in the shootout. Amaya earlier dished off assists versus Seton Hall and Buffalo.
