`Wick Soccer Duo Garners All-Region Recognition

  December 13, 2007
PITTSBURGH, PA - Liam Parrington (Woking, England) and John Paul Boyle (Renfrew, Scotland) represented Hartwick College as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its 2007 NSCAA/Adidas North Atlantic Region men's soccer squads.

Parrington, a 2007 second team all-Mid American Conference performer, was one of 11 members that made up the first team, while Boyle was recognized as a second-team honoree. The junior garnered first team all-conference honors earlier.

"Liam and JP were two of our most consistent players during the course of the year," said Hartwick head coach Ian McIntyre. "This is a just reward for both of their accomplishments. They were two of our leaders both on and off the field and we look forward to seeing them have outstanding senior years for Hartwick in 2008."

Parrington finished his inaugural season for the Hawks with one goal and one assist. The junior was named the Defensive MVP of the 2007 Mayor's Cup, as the Hawks posted back-to-back shutouts over James Madison (1-0) and Seaton Hall (3-0). Parrington recorded his first point as a Hawk with an assist in the season opener versus 2006 NCAA qualifier, UAB and then banged in his lone goal off a header in the win over Seton Hall.

Boyle completed his junior year as one of the top scorers in the MAC as he notched 15 points on the year on seven goals and one assist. On October 20, Boyle posted his best match of the season with a two-goal, one-assist effort in a 3-3 draw versus Western Michigan. In the 2007 campaign, he registered two game-winning goals - one versus Seton Hall and the other in the Hawks' 2-1 win over league rival Buffalo on November 3. Boyle registered his first goal of the year against #10 New Mexico at the Westfield Cup in Akron. Both Parrington and Boyle were named to the all-tournament team at the Westfield Cup.
