BOWLING GREEN, OHIO - John Paul Boyle (Renfrew, Scotland) and Jonathan Garcia-Torres (Brentwood, N.Y.) each scored goals as Hartwick and Bowling Green finished in a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of action, Sunday afternoon at Mickey Cochrane Stadium in Mid American Conference action.
The Hawks, now 3-4-3 (0-1-1 in the MAC) held two leads in the contest. Hartwick opened the scoring at 23:47 as Boyle capitalized on a Falcon mistake and placed the ball over the head of goalie Paul Shoemaker. It was the junior's fourth goal of the year, which is now tied for the team lead with Chris Jackson ( Manchester, England). The Hawks took that 1-0 lead into intermission.
Bowling Green got on the board a little over two minutes into the second half. At 47:01, Abiola Sandy beat goalie Jeremy Vuolo (Downingtown, Pa.) on a penalty shot for his fourth score of the season.
At 53:23, the Hawks regained the lead at 2-1 as Barry Pearson (Linlithgow, Scotland) fed Garcia-Torres for his first goal of the year. The senior blasted a shot from right side in between two BGSU defenders and into the net behind Shoemaker.
The Falcons knotted the game for the second time as Alec Perea tallied his first goal of the campaign from Shoemaker. The senior collected Shoemaker's goal kick and took it the rest of the distance for the game tying goal.
Both teams registered 17 shots in the game, with Hartwick holding a 3-1 shot advantage over the Falcons in the second overtime. Vuolo posted five saves in net for the Hawks, while Shoemaker was credited with seven in the draw.
Hartwick returns to action Wednesday night as Syracuse comes to town for a non-conference clash. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Elmore Field.
