`Wick Falls to Buffalo in MAC Semifinal

  November 16, 2007

AKRON, OHIO. - The Hartwick men's soccer season came to a close following a 1-0 set back to the University of Buffalo in the Mid-American Conference semifinals, Friday evening at Lee Jackson Field.

The Bulls won the game with just under three minutes left as Dan Stevens blasted a shot from 25 yards out which deflected off a Hartwick defender into the net. The victory sent Buffalo into the title game against the winner of the other semifinal either top seeded Akron, or fifth seeded Northern Illinois.

Hartwick advanced to the league semifinals in its first-ever season in the MAC following a dramatic ending, Tuesday evening against the sixth-seeded Western Michigan Broncos.  The Hawks prevailed 4-2 in a shootout after the first 110 minutes couldn't break a 1-1 deadlock.

Jeremy Vuolo (Downingtown, Pa.) posted three saves in the loss versus Buffalo, while Robert Shuttleworth registered four stops in the victory. Hartwick ended its season with a 5-6-7 record.
