ITHACA, N.Y. - Matt Bouraee netted his seventh goal of the campaign and goalie Scott Brody made it stand as Cornell downed Hartwick 1-0 in men's soccer action, Wednesday evening at Charles F. Berman Field.
Aaron Vierira and Scott Caldwell assisted on Bouraee's game-winner at 16:55 of the first half as Cornell improved to 6-8-1 overall, while Hartwick fell to 5-5-6. The loss snapped a two-game Hawk win streak.
Jeremy Vuolo (Downingtown, Pa.) collected six saves in the defeat for Hartwick, while Brody tallied three stops on the evening for Big Red.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday evening as it hosts Western Michigan in a MAC Play-in Game. The contest is set for a 5 p.m. start. Admission will be charged for this game ($ for adults, $3 for children), while Hartwick staff, faculty, and students will be admitted for free with a valid Hartwick ID.
The Hawks carry the third seed into the league tournament, while the Broncos are the sixth seeded squad. This will be the second time the two schools have played at Elmore Field in 2007, as the first meeting ended in a 3-3 draw. The winner of this contest will travel to Akron's Lee Jackson Field to face second seeded Buffalo in the semifinals of the MAC Championships on November 17.
