AKRON, OHIO - The Hartwick men's soccer squad dropped a 3-1 decision to tenth-ranked New Mexico in its final game of the Third Annual Westfield Insurance Cup, Sunday afternoon at Lee Jackson Field.
The Hawks, 1-1 on the year, drew first blood at the 8:46 mark as John Paul Boyle (Renfrew, Scotland) took a feed from Barry Pearson (Linlithgow, Scotland) and burried it in the back of the net off a cross from the middle. However, the Lobos knotted the contest six minutes later on a goal by Chris Wright and then took the lead for good at 21:52 on a score from Mike Porter. The Lobos ended the game's scoring at 32:49 on a goal from PJ Wilson. UNM outshot Hartwick 13-6.
Both Boyle and Liam Parrington (Woking, England) were named to the all-tournament team.
Hartwick returns to action this weekend as it hosts the Mayor's Cup at Elmore Field. The Hawks will open play Friday evening against James Madison. The match gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
